
Amida Cary is a Representative of the Sufi Order International,
under the direction of Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan, and works closely
with his continuously developing presentation of Hazrat Inayat
Khan's teachings and spiritual practice. She has been a traveler
on the Sufi path, a practitioner of the retreat process, and a
Sufi Order guide for over twenty years. Through the kaleidoscopic
roles of human relationship she tries to bring her spiritual ideas
and practice into life.
Amida had been active in service and healing work, particularly
Amnesty International, and as a painter and writer. She is currently
involved in education as a teacher of young children, developer
of curriculum, and as a faculty member of the Institute of Sufi
Studies at the Abode of the Message in upstate New York. Her deep
commitment to and abiding interest in the retreat process expresses
itself as a retreatant, guide, and mentor. She and her husband
currently reside in Annapolis, Maryland, where they have a retreat
center.
