Session Descriptions

"Step out of the circle of time
and into the circle of love."

On Friday afternoon, Saturday morning and
Saturday afternoon there will be a variety of Sessions offered.
These Sessions will provide
an experience of Sufism through lectures, meditation, music, dreamwork,
poetry, and other mystical practices.

Friday Afternoon

LISTENING
TO THE MUSE:
How Music Can Awaken the Life of the Spirit
William Allaudin Mathieu, Friday
2:00 - 4:30pm
This workshop
will explore aspects of music practice, improvisation, composition,
performance, and pure, open listening. Special guests Devi Mathieu
and Hamza El Din.
HEARKEN
TO THE CALL OF THE SOUL

resides in the face that it has come to earth and realized there
its spiritual existence."

Together we will share
the Sufi perspective and spiritual practices of prayer,meditation,
contemplation of the Divine Names, and Dhikr (remembrance
of the Divine Unity). Creating an atmosphere of sacredness and
purpose we hearken to the call of the soul. This awakening to
the universe within inspires the mystic's ecstasy, and brings
a deeper understanding and enrichment to life. Our
work is appropriate for both those new to and those experienced
with the Sufi path.
SUFISM
& ENERGETIC HEALING

Love is the
greatest of all healing energies. Unity through Divine Love, awareness
of the soul, and a heart awakened through the understanding of
energetic healing creates even more love. In this inspiring lecture,
Jaffe will illuminate the Shadhiliyya Sufi path. Join him on this
journey into the depths of the Sufi soul and let your life begin
to blossom.

Once a consciousness
of the Divine is awakened, It can realize That Presence everywhere,
access all the teachings of the Sufi Master all the time, and
increase the speed of access through sincere intention.

RUMI
& THE WAY OF PASSION
Andrew Harvey, Saturday, 10:00am - noon
An in-depth
discussion of Rumi's poetry, as well as simple meditative exercises,
including breathing and heart practices, that help prepare the
spirit to receive Rumi's instruction. The purpose of the workshop
is to enable its participants to empower themselves directly with
Rumi's knowledge and practice of sacred passion for the Beloved
and His creation, ways to make them servants of peace and warriors
of loving change to our troubled world.
SWEEP
OUT THE CHAMBERS OF YOUR HEART:
Dances of Universal Peace as a Path for Opening the Heart
Khatiba Grais, Saturday 10:00am
- noon and 2:00 - 4:30pm
Using sacred
phrases from many different religious traditions, we will share
in the heart's ecstasy expressed through simple movement and song.
All dances will be taught; no experience is necessary, just bring
your heart and your longing for the Beloved.

THE THREAD:
Dreamwork as a Spiritual Practice

Sufi dreamwork
helps us to understand the spiritual guidance of our dreams, and
to grasp the golden thread that is our own inner path. This thread,
hidden within the heart, reveals itself in dreams. Finding this
thread we learn to follow our deepest destiny and weave it into
the fabric of our life.

OUT THE CHAMBERS OF YOUR HEART: Dances of Universal Peace as a

TASTE OF THE BELOVED

Through chanting,
walking meditation, singing, and other practices, poetry, conversation,
and inspiration, we will explore different facets of the Divine
together. As Sam Lewis frequently quoted the great Sufi Al-Ghazzali,
"Sufism is based on Experiences, not Premises."
All are welcome as we dive into the experience of our own heart
within the One Heart and drink deeply from the Source of Love.
